Mart Krijger Nederland, b. 1950
Mart Krijger, born in 1950, defies easy categorisation. With a background in jewellery design, he started his own studio twelve years ago. Using engravings, exotic leather, and Austrian crystals, he gave skulls a new life as art objects. He quickly expanded to art panels, handmade from square components by more than twenty small businesses from twelve countries, making each panel a unique combination of shells, wood, marble, exotic leather, horn, bone, silk, feathers, dichroic glass, crystals, lacquer, and liquid epoxy to enhance the colours.
Currently, Mart works for various artists and galleries. His latest work includes photographs with gold leaf, stones, leather, and jewellery components. His work is displayed in Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, St. Barth, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Denmark, and Switzerland.
Curious about what's next? Definitely the Fish Mania panels, a series called 'Plastic Fantastic', and a sneaker series. But certainly, Mart won’t stop there...
