Biography

"My paintings are often a complex expression of my thoughts, just as thoughts sometimes have neither a beginning nor an end."

In 2015, even to his own surprise, Albert Fröling (Winschoten, 1982) followed in the footsteps of his father, Herman, who was always painting during his youth. In his own youth, however, Albert pursued a career in marketing and communication and then worked for a large financial services organisation. After his father passed away and he rediscovered Herman's works, Albert delved into abstract expressionism and eventually picked up the paintbrush himself.

The techniques of expressionism give Albert a sense of freedom. Free from rules and constraints, he lets his intuition decide the next step in the creative process. If possible, he paints with jazz from the '40s and '50s playing in the background. This music helps him connect with memories from his youth and the movement that has so inspired him.

Albert uses various paints and lacquers and techniques like dripping and pouring. He also takes old brushes and palette knives out of the closet to achieve the effect he envisions on canvas. His work has previously been exhibited in the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, France, Luxembourg, and Belgium.
