Thara Nabbe Nederland, b. 1997
"Paper is such a versatile material; it's a shame we attach so little value to it."
Paper is a modest, everyday material. At least, that's what one might think when considering envelopes, receipts, and to-do lists casually scribbled on post-it notes. But for Thara Nabbe (Tilburg, 1997), paper is anything but a material to overlook and take for granted.
Thara takes paper seriously. She explores it down to the smallest details and examines how the dynamics of the material change when she introduces subtle modifications. By folding the paper with the utmost care, she creates a pattern and transforms a simple piece of paper into a sculpture that refuses to be crumpled or discarded. Thus, through her sculptures, she demonstrates the value of a material that we typically don't give a prominent place in our living rooms or our lives.
After graduating from the Willem de Koning Academy in 2002, Thara started her own business. From nab.creative, she works as an artist and a designer.
