Boutet Canada, b. 1972
"We need the means to break away and leave everything behind in the name of creativity."
Boutet has always been impressed by artists like Picasso, Haring, and Miró, and inspired by both the great traditional masters as well as eclectic modern artists. Boutet remarks, "Imagine what Picasso could have created if he had access to a computer!"
With that thought, Boutet sits behind his own computer. He masters the art of illustrating, 3D graphic designing, video animating, and painting. His vision and diversity in education and experience converge in his unique art form: digital sculpture.
Boutet's works consist of classical subjects, depicted with a forward-looking perspective. With astounding refinement, he builds his characters from the ground up, choosing the materials and bringing them into an individual emotional state, then placing them in an incredibly expansive light.
For 25 years, Boutet conceived and created animated characters for television and online, for books and magazines, and for large international companies like Universal Music, Nintendo, Hallmark, Colgate, Scholastic, the Canadian Olympic Committee, and various museums. His characters have been translated into figurines, plush toys, and jewellery, and his logos became beacons of visual identity for those companies that entrusted him as the cornerstone of their branding.
Boutet completed his studies in communication and design far from the madding crowd, in the countryside of Lac-Beauport in Quebec. However, his education didn't stop there. He continuously pursues numerous online courses and studies with the greatest digital masters. Whether he's in Europe, Asia, or the United States, through tools like Skype and Facetime, he finds them to continue his artistic learning journey.
