Biography

Jacqueline Heidanus (born 1972, Melick-Herkenbosch) and Olav Slingerland (born 1969, Vught) found a way to give their artistic bowls a 'second skin' through material and casting techniques. By incorporating relief directly into the mould rather than adding it later in the process, an extra rich depth is achieved.

He is a trained ceramist, while she specialises in design. Seamlessly, the couple intertwined their disciplines, which has resulted in a creation that is more than just the sum of its parts. 'Drops' is a series of special bowls with manually crafted droplets in various patterns. By adding colour gradients to the glaze, Jacqueline and Olav have also endowed their bowls with changing optical effects, making each bowl truly a unique piece of art.

In his workshop in Lith, Olav manages every step of the ceramic process himself. Although his work refers to useful objects, he often and preferably presents it hanging on the wall, exploring the boundaries between craft, art, and design. His work is available in various stores, museum shops, and galleries and has been featured in the CODA museum in Apeldoorn, Museum Princessehof in Leeuwarden, and the Tiendschuur ceramics museum in Tegelen. He graduated as a product designer from the Design Academy in Eindhoven.
