Biography

“Nature has so much beauty to offer; I refine it and ensure that everyone can have a piece of nature in their home.”

Bruno Helgen (1959, Etampes) is a woodworker and furniture designer. The path to his workshop in Bali was full of twists. He studied fine arts and then worked as a press photographer for four years. When he grew tired of the madness of covering major world events, Bruno moved to the world of film and advertising production. He spent nine years there before falling in love with Bali in 1995.

Leaving behind the certainty his old life offered was a challenge, but Bruno felt ready for the great adventure in every sense. Moreover, he saw great potential in working with skilled artisans in a country with an abundance of high-quality raw materials. He gave his vision form by designing high-end furniture and decorative items. A special place is reserved for globes made from teak root, each uniquely shaped by the craftsman's hand.

His work is favoured by private collectors and commercial organisations worldwide. Bruno spends two-thirds of the year in Bali. 'The island of the gods' is where he feels at home and where he creates new designs. The rest of his time is spent in Europe and the US.
